Organisation of the Exhibition «Dodekameron – Holy Twelve days in Cyprus», at the State Ethnographic Museum in Warsaw.
On Wednesday evening, November 15, 2017, at the State Ethnographic Museum in Warsaw took place the Inauguration of the exhibition «Dodekameron – Holy Twelve days in Cyprus» , with the cooperation of the Synodic Office of Pilgrimage Tours of the Church of Cyprus and the HELP2LIVE Charity Foundation. The exhibition took place with the blessings of His Beatitude Archbishop of Cyprus Mr. Chrysostomos and His Beatitude Metropolitan of Warsaw and All Poland, Mr Savva.
In the organization of the exhibition took part the Police of Cyprus – Drug Law Enforcement Unit, the State Ethnographic Museum of Warsaw, and it is supported by the Cypriot Tourism Organization (CTO), the Cyprus Pedagogic Institute and the Press and Information Office.
The Inauguration of the Exhibition, -attended by more than 500 people- was made by His Beatitude Savva, the Metropolitan of Warsaw and all Poland, Mr Savvas and by His Grace Gregorios, Bishop of Mesaoria, President of the Synodical Office of Pilgrimage Tours. Bishops and other clergymen attended. Also, present was Mr Dipak Kumar, founder of the HELP2LIVE Charity Foundation, Mr. Constantinos Zackheos, the Foundation’s Director, and the Director for ceremonies of the Polish Ministry for Foreign Affairs Mrs. Irena Lichnerowicz – Augustyn, Cyprus Ambassador Petros Kestoras and the Assistant Chief of Cyprus Police Mr. Stelios Papatheodorou, the Ambassador of Greece Mr. Evangelos Tsousassis, the Russian Ambassador Mr. Sergey Andreev, the Ambassador of Japan Mr. Shigeo Matsutomi, the Ambassador of Luxembourg Mr. Conrad A. Bruch, the Ambassador of Peru Mr. Alberto Efrain Wilfredo Salas Barahona, the Ambassador of Venezuela Mr. Luis Adolfo Gómez Urdaneta, the Hungarian Ambassador Mrs. Orsolya Zsuzsanna Kovacs, the Consul of Cyprus in Gdynia Mr. Jan Michalewski, Consul Mr. Loucas Eugenios, the Commercial Counselor Mr. Petros Michaelides, the CTO Deputy Director in Poland Μrs. Barbara Kowalska, the Police Director of Warsaw, Professors and Students of the University of Warsaw, of the Seminary School and other guests.
The program of the event included -besides the greetings of His Beatitude Metropolitan of Warsaw, of Bishop of Mesaoria, of the Director of the State Ethnographic Museum, Dr. Adam Czyzewski and of the Director of the HELP2LIVE Charity Foundation, Mr. Constantinos Zackheos – ecclesiastical hymns and Cypriot carols sung by a chorus of seminarians of the Orthodox Church of Poland, under the direction of Professor of Music, Mr. Vladimiros. Also the dance group «Akrites Geriou», led by Mr. Argyris Argyrou presented Cypriot dances and songs. At the same time, there was a presentation of orthodox hagiography by the monk fr. Dometios and of Cypriot traditional pastry made during the twelve-day period by Andri Hadjiprodromou and Voula Michail.
The Synodic Office of Pilgrimage Tours expressed its warm thanks to Dipak Kumar, the HELP2LIVE Charity Foundation, and to the Director of the Foundation, Mr. Constantinos Zackheos.
Sincere gratitude is also expressed to the Polish Orthodox Church, headed by the Metropolitan Bishop of Warsaw, which embraced and supported the entire effort, to the chorus of the seminarians and to Mr. Vladimir, Music Professor and to Mr. Patrick Panoussopoulos. Also, warm thanks is expressed to those who supported the organization of the Exhibition, the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Ministry of Commerce, Energy, Industry and Tourism of the Republic of Cyprus, the Embassies of Cyprus and Greece in Poland, the Embassy of Poland in Cyprus, the Honorary Consul of Poland in Cyprus, Mr. Loukis Papafilippou, the Consul of Cyprus in Gdynia, Mr. Jan Michalewski, the Holy Archbishopric of Cyprus, the Holy Monasteries of Machaira and Chrysorogiatissa, the University of Warsaw and the Department of Greek Studies and in particular Dr Przemyslaw Kordos, Natasha Ieridou of the «Methexis» Office, Culture Diakonia, curator of the exhibition, the Travel Agencies Xenos Travel and Travelorama and those who participated in the program presented at the Opening Ceremony.
Warm thanks is expressed to Mr. Pavlos Hadjiprodromou, collaborator of the Synodical Office of Pilgrimage Tours, who systematically supported the organizational efforts of the Exhibition in Cyprus.
For the needs of the Exhibition, a brochure was prepared about the twelve-day period in English and Polish as well as a children’s work paper in Polish.
After completion, the Exhibition was transferred to the Monastery of the Annunciation in Suprasl as a permanent display.
